Cooperman Drum Company
I have had a long acquaintance with the Cooperman Fife & Drum Company dating back to the 1960’s, visiting Paddy Cooperman at his home to discuss the purchase of corps drums. I have over the years purchased: a personal 16” X 16”, custom tack-worked rope tension drum, all my drum corps drums and numerous different style of persimmon drum sticks. It was a natural decision for us to handle the Cooperman drumstick line. Jim Ellis, Cooperman’s drum guru, suggested that I should carry the more popular concert and marching drumsticks: the Graham Johns and Nick Petrella model concert sticks and the Connecticut Drummer, Parley, Lemley model marching sticks to name a few. Needless to say, the Cooperman marching sticks are a rage with the fife & drum crowd. At the Deep River Ancient Muster, this last year, I was quickly sold out of certain models. We’ll probably display the Cooperman concert models, along with other items at percussion festivals and possibly at the American Patriots Rudimental Drummers Club convention at Harrisburg, PA this coming April.
The Cooperman Company produces outstanding product. Their rope-tension drums are the gold standard for that style of drum. Besides almost every street and recreating fife and drum corps, Cooperman outfits the popularly known U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps and the Colonial Williamsburg Fife and Drum Corps. Cooperman drums and drumsticks are renowned internationally.
